Nomination
Two Sponsoring Fellows in good standing must commit their hands. The Council does not solicit; nominations originate from within the Fellowship.
The Council is the deliberative body of the Society, called from among the Fellowship to a term of stewardship. Its remit is admittance, the custody of the Register, and the disposition of inquiries received in the present term.
Proceedings observe Chatham House Rule without exception. The Register is maintained at our rooms in Lincoln's Inn Fields and is not published. The Council does not retain copies of Letters of Inquiry beyond the period of their evaluation.
The Master · Lent Term, MMXXVI
Stewardship for the present term.
Chief officer of the Society. Custodian of the Charter. Presides at the Annual Dinner and at all sittings of the Council in plenary.
Correspondence. Receives Letters of Inquiry and replies by post in the Society's hand.
Stewardship of the reservation register and of the Society's modest holdings. Issues wire details to inquirers upon initial correspondence.
Maintains the roll of Fellows. The roll is not published; inquiries as to its content are not entertained.
Quiet assistance to Fellows in interval. Authorised to act upon the Master's signature and without record.
Keeper of the Quiet Room and of the customary silences. Convenes the observances at the Society's principal sittings.
Chairs the Council in its evaluation of Letters of Inquiry. Reports determinations to the Honorary Secretary for reply.
